A public-private cooperation project has begun to foster high-ranking fabless globally.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a global Star Fabless launch ceremony at the Gyeonggi Business Growth Center on the 28th.

Representatives of 20 companies selected as global star fabless participated in the event to announce their participation in the project to leap forward with the Ministry of Industry.

The Global Star Fabless Project, launched through this event, is a long-term project to foster Korea's fabless to the top of the world, and the Ministry of Industry selected 20 Star Fabless companies to participate in the project after public announcement and expert evaluation.

The importance of fabless has increased with the advent of future industries such as artificial intelligence and electrification and the rapid growth of the global system semiconductor market, said Joo Young-joon, head of the industrial policy office. "We will provide promising fabless with various government support measures to produce top-tier fabless globally, provide fabless companies with opportunities to develop new products by supporting demand-linked technology development, and provide opportunities to advance front-end industries."
